I could see Bob coaching again somewhere down the line, but at what level? It was interesting seeing him sign up to coach that WFL (or whatever) team from Dallas last year. Was that a sign he was ready to get back into coaching? Maybe next stop is the NFL? His no nonsense approach to the game may or may not work with grown men. It’s a different personality matrix.

Smiles my friend…by your posts I would surmise you’re already writing Caleb off and going to follow Riley to USC. Again, I wouldn’t be so sure. There are sooooo many red flags saying the opposite. However, COULD he be using the bowl game ONLY to enhance his personal needs with the NIL group and/or Riley and his staff to insure he has the starters role sewn up? Man, I’d like to think the kid is better than that. That said…and regardless…yes, I wish him the best whatever his decision may be. I don’t wish ill will on anybody, for anything.

Lastly, and like most Sooner fans, I like to think national championships thoughts every year. But, my age and experience tells me to keep it real. I’ve seen too many times where the team came up short and the chips fell the other direction when it was obvious OU had a real chance to win it all, including 2021.

Personally, I think BV and company need a year or two of solid recruiting to build their vision of a salty OU offense AND DEFENSE that can withstand the rigors of playing top notch teams week after week in the SEC. To think they MIGHT have a chance to compete for the NC before leaving the Big 12 is not too far fetched, but seems a little out of reach. HOWEVER, Bob did it in two years, but he had a signing class in 1999 of Lehman, Williams, Smith, Heupel, Woolfolk, Savage, Sims, Strait, Perkins, Everidge. Those names ring a bell? Could Venables have many of those kinds of players already in his inherited fold? Let’s hope so.
